Alarm Systems
Smoke Detectors:
Few realize just
how easily and fast a fire can destroy homes and lives.
Fortunately, smoke detectors can help protect against a fire by
providing an early warning. Smoke detectors may allow you and your
family sufficient time to reach safety. Many people have neglected
to install smoke detectors despite their life-saving potential and
low cost. Even those who do have smoke detectors often take them
for granted by forgetting that they need to be maintained in order
to continue working properly.
-
Keep your
home safe by installing smoke detectors today. Experts report
that people may reduce their risk of dying in a home fire in
half simply by having a fire alarm system in their homes. We can
install fire alarm systems to cover any home or business.
-
Photoelectric
and Ionization type alarms: There are two
types of smoke alarms available today: photoelectric and
ionization. When smoke enters a photoelectric alarm, light from
within the sensor is reflected off the smoke particles onto a
photo cell, triggering the alarm. When smoke enters an
ionization alarm, ionized air molecules attach to the smoke
particles and reduce the ionizing current, triggering the alarm.
While photoelectric smoke alarms generally respond faster to
smoldering smoke conditions and ionization smoke alarms
generally respond faster to flaming fire conditions, both types
provide good protection against fire. However photoelectric
smoke detectors have fewer false alarm problems.
-
More is
better...For existing
homes we recommend installing at least one smoke detector on
each floor of the house and outside all bedrooms. For all new
construction New York
law
may require that each bedroom have a smoke detector and one on
each floor.
-
Test and
maintain your fire alarm system. A working fire
alarm is needed in every home. It is important that you have
your system tested and maintained at least once a year. We can
perform annual test and inspections on your system to ensure
that it is working properly.
